90 Acts of Kindness Challenge

In honor of our church's upcoming 90th Anniversary the students of our Sunday Church School are participating in a 90 Acts of Kindness Challenge. Between September 7th, 2014- October 18, 2015( the Anniversary celebration) we hope to complete 90 Acts of Kindness that will benefit others.

Listed below are several examples of completed Acts of Kindness. Our church is Assumption Greek Orthodox Church located at 601. S. Central, Chicago. Our parishioners are from various suburbs as well as the city.

Completed:

1. Students made and delivered fleece blankets to Ronald McDonald House Hines, IL

2. Baked and sold baked goods at Oak Park Farmers Market to benefit Sarah's Inn(domestic abuse shelter)

3. Wrote and mailed letter to WWII Vets on an Honor Flight

4. Collected and mailed candy to troops through Operation Gratitude

5. Pampered patients to Rush Hospital with Simply from the Heart

6. Collected and made food baskets for needy families in the Austin community

7. Donated money to help offset medical expenses of a young boy who battled Lymphoma.

8. Collected gently used books for Good Night Sleep Tight organization

9. Made snacks packs for TLP (homeless teens on the Southside of Chicago)

10. Collected winter hats, and gloves for homeless of Chicago

11. Participated in Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot

12. Participated in the St. Jude's Give Thanks Walk

I thought this "Challenge" might be of interest to you and would be happy to provide more details of the program and other organizations we hope to help. Our challenge is 90 different groups of people/organizations and the time frame to complete this in is just about 13 months so to be on track we hope to complete about 7 Acts of Kindness a month.
