MCYO celebrates 35th season with concert

The McHenry County Youth Orchestra, celebrating its 35th anniversary this season, invites the community to its fall concert, "Trumpeting Triumphs," at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Prairie Ridge High School, 6000 Dvorak Drive, Crystal Lake.

Special guest on this concert will be John Hagstrom, second trumpet with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Hagstrom will play one piece with the Intermezzo Orchestra "The Prayer of St. Gregory", a beautiful piece with strings and solo trumpet. And he will perform two pieces with the Symphony Orchestra, including the world premiere of "Without a Song," arranged specifically for MCYO.

All three level orchestras will be performing, the beginning strings, the Prelude Orchestra conducted by Talia Pavia; the Intermezzo Orchestra, conducted by Andrew Malovance; and the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Terry Foster.

For tickets, call the McHenry County Music Center offices at (815) 356-6296.

Tickets are $12 or $7 for students and seniors; $2 will be added to each ticket for all charges. Visit mcmusic.org, to view the seating chart for open seats.

This concert is supported in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
