Register for Boil - Making Syrup & Sugar Candy at Coral Woods

Go beyond the typical maple syrup making demonstration and enjoy a sweet spring experience at McHenry County Conservation District's Maple Boil - Making Syrup & Sugar Candy from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Coral Woods Conservation Area, 7400 Somerset, Marengo.

In this hands-on program for adults, participants will be actively involved as we strive to finish a batch of maple syrup in the evaporator at Coral Woods. We will then continue the process a step further to create maple cream and maple sugar candy. If successful, each participant will bring home a small sample of our labors. Note: This is a very weather-dependent process and our success may be affected by the weather, as well as the volume and availability of this year's sap run.

The registration deadline is March 15 and program fee of $5 for county residents and $6.25 for nonresidents must accompany registration.

Registration is accepted online, by phone (free programs only) at (815) 479-5779, by mail and walk-in at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, or walk-in only at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.
