Virtual Social Media program offered through MCC Shah Center

The Workforce Community and Business Programs of McHenry County College is partnering with social media strategist and educator, Corinn Hilbert, to offer a virtual Social Media Certificate Series beginning Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and blogging are helping companies to increase brand awareness, attract new leads and engage with customers. If you're not already using social media for your business, then you've fallen behind. The good news is that it's never too late to start.

The series is broken into four parts: Social Media Marketing, Social Media Platforms, Social Media Management, and the Social Media Certificate Workshop. Through the convenience of web conference technology, the class meets online with a certified instructor for two, one-hour classes per week from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 30 through Dec. 13.

Cost is $1,495 and participants can register using course code NTC C30 001. The course is limited to eight students, and all classes are recorded for student viewing. The interactive classes, focused sessions, small class size, and personal instruction create a powerful and worthwhile educational experience.

This series is ideal for employees responsible for social media marketing; marketing graduates who desire a social media marketing skills to qualify for open jobs; displaced workers looking for new career skills; or web developers and marketing consultants wanting to provide social media services. Participants must have access to a computer, and a working knowledge of a computer and the internet. Familiarity with marketing concepts as well as social media sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn is highly recommended. Upon successful course completion of the courses, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
