Apply for internships through U of I Extension McHenry County
The University of Illinois Extension Service-McHenry County will offer a summer internship program for students interested in careers in nonprofit and Extension education. This program provides opportunities for the county Extension offices to gain the benefits of an extra employee for some of the busiest summer months, while at the same time giving a prospective employee a chance to find out what Extension work is really all about.
The intern may develop an assessment tool for the programming use, develop and implement a researched based curriculum for the youth in the program, or they may learn how to facilitate the organization of volunteers. The intern will create goals with the help of the Extension staff that will meet the need of their academic program.
This program is designed for college juniors and seniors or graduate students to spend 15-20 weeks working in a local Extension office. Interns will be compensated in experience that will maximize their resumes in the areas of project development, program implementation, marketing, and evaluation. This internship is a nonpaid opportunity.
Interns may come from any major, however; the experience will be most beneficial to students in the area of education, social sciences, nonprofit and extension education.
