MCC to host engineering program information sessions
McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake, will host two separate Engineering information sessions for high school students, college students and parents from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Room B166-167 and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Scot Room, B178.
McHenry County College has established new guaranteed transfer agreements with Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
These agreements, along with the Engineering Pathways partnership established with the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign last year, provide opportunities for students to complete core science, math and general education courses at MCC before transferring to complete an engineering degree.
MCC also offers additional pathways for students interested in attending other in-state and out-of-state schools.
"These information sessions will provide details about the different paths available for students interested in studying engineering," said Maria Taydem, Ph.D., interim dean of Math and Science at MCC. "MCC provides excellent preparation for students continuing on to study engineering.
Taydem said she had the opportunity to speak with several recent MCC alumni who are now finishing up their engineering studies and they are doing well at their four-year school of choice.
"We are excited to be able to offer a good start for students at such substantial savings for their families," Taydem said.
Interested students and parents also can email Maria Taydem at pathways@mchenry.edu with questions or for more information.
