Learn about composting at Green Drinks meeting

Submitted by Environmental Defenders of McHenry County

The public is invited to Green Drinks McHenry County from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Duke’s Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St., Crystal Lake.

Head upstairs at Duke’s for information and inspiration, business and pleasure. Come talk about “greening” the future with others. Must be 21 to purchase alcohol — nonalcoholic drinks are available.

Dean Allen will be on hand to talk about vermicomposting. Worm composting is a simple, clean, pollution-free, odorless way to recycle kitchen scraps into a usable product, right in your own home or classroom.

You will reduce the amount of garbage sent to the landfill and creating compost — that natural, nutrient-rich soil conditioner.

Upcoming programs include “Energy Efficiency Ideas” March 5 and “Water” April 2.

There will be an information table set up, and you are welcome to bring information about your green products and services each month to share. Additional parking is available at the train station.

To be added to the email list, send a note to GreenDrinksMC@gmail.com or “like” the group on www.facebook.com/GreenDrinksMcHenryCounty.
