Pokemon players, fans gather for championship in Huntley

Pokémon Trading Card Game players, their supporters and Pokémon fans from Huntley and surrounding areas are invited to attend the 2013 Pokémon City Championships starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill St.

Players from three age divisions will compete to earn valuable Championship Points that count toward a potential invitation to compete at the 2014 Pokémon World Championships in Washington, D.C. next summer.

Players of all ages and skill levels in good standing are encouraged to participate in the open, family-friendly event that serves as a great opportunity for new players to compete in these events for the first time.

More than 100 Pokémon City Championships are taking throughout North America beginning Nov. 23 and occurring every weekend through Jan. 6, along with additional weekday event dates.
