Elgin CC wins Region IV tennis title

Maria Morales Nelson won a singles championship as did the doubles team of Stacy Krach and Natalie Judkins to lead the Elgin Community College women’s tennis team to the Region IC championship Saturday.

The Spartans scored 18.5 points to win the title. Moraine Valley was second with 15 and Illinois Valley third with 14.5.

June Lynch, Cassie McElroy, Krach, Cristal Tinajero and Alina Patthana each picked up points for ECC in singles play, while Lynch-McElroy and Alda De la Fuente-Ellie Weber did the same for the Spartans in doubles.

The Spartans will play in the NJCAA National Tournament in Tyler, Texas in May.
