Prospect delivers winning relay performance
Prospect’s boys track and field team proved to be the best of the bunch on its home turf in the 13th Annual Prospect Relays on Saturday.
Senior Quentin Shaffer anchored winning efforts in the 3,200 medley and 4,000 relays for the Knights, who also found winning combinations in the 440 high hurdles, long jump and shot put relays to take top honors in the team standings with 132 points in a nine-team field.
Second-place Barrington (113 points) had winning efforts from its discus and high jump relays, along with the 1,600 relay.
Elk Grove tied with Lake Forest for fourth place and had the top finishes in the 4 x 300 intermediate hurdles relay and the 800 medley realy.
Conant relays: The host Cougars finished runner-up to Lakes in an eight-team field.
The Cougars excelled in the track events and were winners in the 6,400 relay, the 4x110 hudles, the intermediate hurdles and the distance medley.
