B.R. Ryall YMCA of Northwestern DuPage County Launches Annual Community Support Campaign

With no money, no car, and a life-changing disease, Bruce, a B.R. Ryall YMCA member, refused to feel sorry for his circumstances and decided to ask the Y for help. “The Y was good enough to provide me with a membership scholarship. I use the Y every day during the week and look forward to working-out and socializing with many great friends. I am much happier, stronger and have never had more friends in my life, ever. Because of the Y, I am always going to be fantastic,” said Bruce.

To ensure that the Y can continue to provide Northwestern DuPage County with life-enhancing services, the B.R. Ryall YMCA is launching its annual community support campaign on April 1, 2013. As a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, financial gifts to the Y will help advance programming and services to support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. More importantly, gifts to the B.R. Ryall YMCA stay in the community and thus have a direct impact on our neighbors.

“Through our community support campaign, we want to educate people that we are more than a place to exercise or swim, but a charity that does vital work thanks to the financial support of the community. Financial contributions to the campaign allow us to extend a caring hand to individuals like Bruce,” said Lynda Chott, Chief Executive Officer, B.R. Ryall YMCA.

Last year, financial support from individuals made it possible for children to have a safe place to learn and build confidence in our before- and after-school program; for families to reconnect and grow together; for seniors and individuals to socialize and connect with each other; for single-parents to have quality child care; and for children and teens to enjoy summer camp at the Y.

Funds raised will support a variety of YMCA programs and allow the Y to provide much needed financial assistance to children, families and individuals in the community.
