Enroll in Oakton’s Basic Nurse Assistant Training program
As baby boomers age and health care needs increase, health career professionals will be in high demand.
Begin your health career journey by enrolling in Oakton Community College’s Basic Nurse Assistant Training program. Classes begin in mid-January at the college’s Skokie campus, 7701 North Lincoln Ave.
Oakton’s BNAT curriculum, approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health, offers a basic study of principles and procedures used by the nurse assistant in long-term care, home health settings, and hospitals.
The program focuses on basic human needs and the care of elders. Students acquire skills and concepts through hands-on clinical experiences at local health care facilities.
The BNAT certificate is an eight-credit program that consists of the concurrent courses Basic Nurse Assistant Training (seven credits) and Basic Nurse Assistant Job Training (one credit).
Basic Nurse Assistant Training provides a basic study of the principles and procedures used by the nurse assistant. Basic Nurse Assistant Job Training expands the understanding of today’s health care workplace and the role of the certified nursing assistant. The course covers job search techniques.
A 10-week day program begins Jan. 15; a 16-week evening program starts Jan. 15; and a 16-week weekend program commences Jan. 18.
Potential students are required to schedule an interview and an appointment for testing.
