Lake Park H.S. Presents Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" Nov. 1-3
Widely regarded as one of the best American plays, "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller is an ageless tale of fear, greed, and power written by one of the greatest American playwrights of all time. When teenage girls are discovered trying to conjure spirits, the 17th century town of Salem explodes with accusations of witchcraft. The vicious trials that follow expose a community paralyzed by terror, religious extremism and greed, and a marriage forever changed. A play that challenges our every notion of good and evil, "The Crucible" was originally written as a parable of 1950′s McCarthyism: intolerance born out of fear, a human impulse that has repeated itself many times in world history.
Lake Park High School has submitted "The Crucible" for consideration at the 2013 Illinois High School Theatre Festival hosted at University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in January. During the festival, over 4,000 other high school students and teachers from throughout the state attend workshops in various areas and aspects of theatre, meet with college reps, and view several full-length plays presented by various high schools from throughout the state of Illinois.
The Lake Park High School drama department will present The Crucible on Thursday, November 1 at 7 pm; Friday, November 2 at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, November 3 at 7:30 pm in the Lake Park High School East Campus Dice Auditorium (600 South Medinah Road, Roselle).
The play is performed with a cast of 24 students, representing freshman year thru senior year. Some of the featured performers include:

• Junior Chris Sommers as John Proctor
• Sophomore Lucas Bennett as Reverend John Hale
• Senior Lillie Bennett as Elizabeth Proctor
• Senior Danny Klinkner as Judge Hathorne
• Junior Matt Solomon as Deputy Governor Danforth
