Learn to protect seniors from scams

Submitted by Home Instead Senior Care

The National Association of Triads and Home Instead Senior Care have launched a public information program to educate families and seniors about how to protect themselves from scams targeting the elderly.

A number of important tools in the fight are available online at ProtectSeniorsFromFraud.com, including a Criminal Target Scale, which can help family caregivers assess how likely their senior is to be the potential target of a scam. And free senior fraud protection kits are available from Home Instead Senior Care offices at 450 E. Higgins Road, Suite 102, Elk Grove Village; 3100 Dundee Road, Suite 107, Northbrook; 735 Industrial Drive, Suite C, Cary; 1410 W. Higgins Road, Suite 204, Park Ridge; and 12 S. First Ave., Suite H, St. Charles.

According to experts, the top three crimes targeting seniors are identity theft, Medicaid/Medicare and medication fraud, and financial exploitation.
