Lace up for Summer Sunset 5K race in Lake in the Hills

On your mark, get set … go to the annual Summer Sunset 5K/2 mile race event held on Friday, Aug. 31, at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road. The course will be flat and fast with no need to worry about hills. This evening run allows for you to start the weekend off right. Come for the run/walk and stay for the entertainment at the Summer Sunset Festival.

All participants will receive a limited-print, short-sleeve technical shirt, fruit, beverage, and festival food voucher. Preregistration is appreciated and can be done through the Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department or online through www.lith.org and www.signmeup.com.

The cutoff for online registration is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29. You may still register online at www.lith.org until noon Friday, Aug. 31. You also may register on race day beginning at 5:30 p.m. at race day headquarters. The fee is $30.

Race day registration and packet pick up is from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. The race begins promptly at 7 p.m. Awards will be distributed at the Summer Sunset Festival main stage after the final participant crosses the finish line, approximately 8:15 p.m.
