Fremd edges Conant, Barrington

Fremd improved to 2-0 in the Mid-Suburban League and Conant’s Jackie Halden kept her game rolling on Tuesday at the Fox Run Golf Course in Elk Grove.

The Vikings were back on the course where they finished second to defending state champion Prospect 10 days ago in the Conant Early Bird Invite.

This time, coach Christine Vlaming’s Vikings (172) won a tri-meet over Conant (177) and Barrington (179).

Dorothy Feng (39), Katie Hur (42), Angie Kim (44) Claire Nowak (47) and Gwen Glasner (47) posted the top scores for Fremd.

Five days earlier, Halden recorded the first hole-in-one of her life in a practice round at Walnut Greens in Schaumburg.

Tuesday, she was the medalist of the meet by shooting her best round of nine holes in high school with a 37, 1 stroke better than Barrington junior Heather Ciskowski (38).

Other Conant scores were Carly Bryeans (41), Megan Nagorzanski (49), Ellen O’Malley (50) and Annie Witt (50).

The Fillies’ top marks after Ciskowski came from Kelly Umphred (45), Bailee McDonald (47) and Molly Fruecht (49).

Palatine wins tri-meet: Palatine (197) improved to 2-0 in the MSL by defeating the host Saxons (230) and Hoffman Estates (260) at the Schaumburg Golf Course.

Emily Santucci of Schaumburg earned medalist honors with a 45, followed by four Palatine golfers — Sally Ploch (46), Sarah Mattes (49), Emma Walsh (51) and Crolyn Angiollo (51).

St. Viator d. Glenbard South: Host St. Viator posted a 183-243 victory at Old Orchard Country Club as junior Dana Gattone (39) and senior Amy Stringfellow (45) led the way for the Lions (2-0).

Haley Gainer added a 49 and Courtney Christophe a 50 for St. Viator in the nonconference dual meet.
