Family fishing event offered in Woodstock

Bring your family out to enjoy a summer morning of fishing from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at Paulsen Road Shelter, Brookdale Conservation Area, 18410 Route 14, Woodstock.
The McHenry County Conservation District program will cover the basics of baiting a hook, casting, parts of a pole, fishing safety and ethics, and fish identification. Fun activities for the littlest fisher-people will also be provided. Bring your own properly working equipment to fish with, or use ours. Bait will be provided. Instruction will also be available in Spanish.
Anyone older than 16 must have a valid Illinois fishing license in order to fish. Once registered, call the Prairieview Education Center at (815) 479-5779 to reserve fishing poles as needed. Program is free for county residents and $5 for nonresidents. Program is for adults and families. Registration deadline is Monday, June 25.
