American Diabetes Association thanks Health Track Glen Ellyn for day camp

The American Diabetes Association would like to thank Health Track, located in Glen Ellyn, for holding Camp Discovery, a day camp for children with Type 1 diabetes.

Since the introduction of the American Diabetes Association day camp for children with diabetes, Camp Discovery, at Health Track in Glen Ellyn, in 2005, the camp program has flourished.

Health Track has provided outstanding facilities to be utilized by the numerous children, parents, and volunteer staff that are involved with the ADA camp. Camp Discovery utilizes gym space at Health Track by incorporating games, crafts, and activities inside the gym during the day, as well as an outdoor area with a large shaded tent that is provided for children to eat, play, and engage in outdoor activities such as tye-dyeing and various sports, arts, and crafts.

The pool is also provided by Health Track in the afternoons for the children to enjoy pool time.

Health Track provides areas for parent sessions to be held where parents can mingle with one another over refreshments, with ADA volunteers leading discussions of nutrition, diabetes management, and various other topics concerning the challenges of living with a child with type one diabetes.

During this time, the campers are in Diabetes Education classes in another area, learning ways to better their diabetes management skills.

The American Diabetes Association would like to thank Health Track for its valuable role in making camp possible!
