Lost Valley Visitor Center offers hand lotion instruction

McHenry County Conservation District invites you to step back in time and learn the skills of yesteryear during the hands-on historical workshop, “To Soothe My Lady’s Hands” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 30, at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood.

This class demonstrates the making of a safe and gentle natural hand lotion from an Elizabethan-era recipe. Participants will choose combinations of essential oils and components to create a custom lotion to take home, while learning the safe handling of essential oils and some interesting facts about cosmetics in history. All materials are provided.

Enrollment is limited and there is a fee for materials: $20 for county residents and $25 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is Friday, June 22.
