Travel writers, bloggers explore Fox Valley with visitors bureaus

The Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomed travel writers and bloggers from all around the state to the Fox River Valley last week. The CVB teamed up with the Greater St. Charles Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to give the writers a full Fox River Valley experience.

The writers and bloggers were able to experience attractions, dining and lodging while visiting the Elgin Area. They started their adventure at Gail Borden Public Library's new exhibit, "Children Just Like Me EVERYWHERE!"

Gail Borden was voted the “Community's Favorite Place” and we wanted to show the writers why it is a destination for residents and tourists alike. The writers were then on their way to ride an electric car from the past at Illinois Railway Museum in Union, the largest railway museum in the U.S.

They then walked the halls of the only farmhouse Frank Lloyd Wright ever designed and built in his lifetime at the Muirhead Farmhouse in Hampshire.

The writers finished up their time in Elgin with a driving tour of downtown Elgin and lunch at the Grand Victoria Casino.

The Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau brings travel writers and bloggers into the area to inspire them to write about the community. They hope that by showing them everything we have to offer they will encourage their followers and readers to come and see for themselves.

These writers were all chosen from past contacts the Elgin Area Convention & Visitor Bureau made at Travel Media Showcase (TMS). TMS is an annual conference to bring travel writers and bloggers from across the country together to meet with convention and visitor bureaus.
