EYSO adds movement to music

Talented young musicians and dancers will have their opportunity to shine this weekend at Elgin Community College’s Blizzard Theatre.

On Sunday, May 6, the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform its Move concerts at 2, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the theater, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Move is the final concert of the 2011-12 season focused on the theme of “Arts and Minds.” The concerts explore the relationship between music and dance, with the understanding that the two have been intertwined since the beginning of history.

Whether a rustic folk dance, the glitter of a grand ball, or the artistry and precision of the ballet, music is always present. How does music move? How does it suggest movement, even without dancers present? Experience and explore the effect music has on listeners through some of the greatest dance music in orchestra repertoire.

The Move concerts will also feature special announcements and experiences throughout the day.
