Conant just keeps rolling

Senior Briana Cavin went 4-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs to spark Conant’s offense in a 15-1 six-inning victory at Wheeling on Friday.

Shannon O’Connor (2-0) earned the win for the Cougars (21-2, 9-0) by tossing a 4-hitter with 5 strikeouts.

Other top hitters for the MSL West leaders were Rachel O’Malley (2-for-3, RBI), Miranda Cavin (2-for-5, RBI, 1 run), Telly Hunter (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 run), Elisa Ambrose (2-fo-r4, 3 runs) and Barb Linderman (2-for-3, 3 RBI, 1 run).

Wheeling freshman Nette Howard belted her first career homer over the left field fence in the second inning.

Sara Kern also doubled for the Wildcats (3-15, 1-8)

Rolling Meadows tourney: Palatine (12-12) started out the tourney with a 10-0 victory in five innings as Jules Udoni (4-2) pitched 4 innings (2 hits, 0 Runs) for the win.

Megan Hedstrom struck out two in her one inning of work.

Top hitters for the Pirates were Tori Walzak (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Courtney English (2-for-4, 2 runs), Lauren Logan (1-for-4, 2 runs, triple, RBI), Hedstrom (3-for-4, 1 run, triple, 2 RBI), Kaileigh Moertl (3-for-3, double, 1 run), Udoni (double), and Borgan (double, 1 run).

Lane Tech topped host Rolling Meadows 6-1 under the lights.

Senior Josie Suchecki belted a home run for the Mustangs (13-10) and Natalie Cannizzo had their only other hit.

Maine West (15-8) dropped a 13-0 decision to Bartlett.

Washington tournament: Barrington won its first two games 10-0 over Pontiac and 6-2 over Washington, the host high school from down state.

Jordan Wekony (2-for-3, 3 RBI), Raegan Fingerman (2-for-2, 2 RBI), Erin Ward (2-for-2, RBI) and Morgan Olszewski (double) led the Barrington offense against Pontiac while senior Emma Woods (6-0) notched the win with 2 strikeouts and no walks.

Freshman Keenan Dolezal (4-1) got the win against Washington, giving up 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in 3 innings while Cassidy Kraimer struck out three batters in the inning she pitched.

Ally McLaughlin (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Kelsey Kazmier (2-for-3, 2 RBI) led the offense for the Fillies (21-4), who have won 20 or more games for the 20th consecutive season under coach Perry Peterson.

Leyden 12, Addison Trail 6: Morgan Maize was the winning pitcher and belted a 3-run homer for visiting Leyden (18-5).
