Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

The girls soccer teams from Huntley and Jacobs each registered wins in the Pepsi Showdown tournament Thursday.

Delanie Loprieno scored 2 goals, including the game-winner in the 73rd minute, and Rachel Zobott added a goal for the Red Raiders in their 3-2 win over Wheaton Academy. Jessica Galason made 2 saves in goal for Huntley (7-4-3) in the win.

Lauren Grady’s second-half goal lifted Jacobs to a 1-0 win over Mundelein. Alyssa Koeppler made 3 saves in goal for the Golden Eagles (9-5-2).

Burlington Central 6, Marengo 0: Cali Andrew, Maddie Stoneman and Camille Dela Cruz scored 2 goals each to lead the Rockets (9-4-1, 4-0-0) to a Big Northern East win. Caitlin Solberg had 7 saves in goal for BC.

Elgin Academy 1, Lake Forest Academy 1: Kaitlyn Pearson scored off an assist from Ashley Barnes for the Hilltoppers (3-5-2, 1-1). Alysson Whittmeyer had 6 saves for Elgin Academy.

Fenton 3, Larkin 1: Rosa Camarana had the Royals’ lone goal in this nonconference loss. Diana Hernandez had 8 saves for Larkin (1-11-1).

South Elgin 3, East Aurora 1: Savanah Uveges scored twice and Anna Tracy added a goal for the Storm (8-5, 1-2) in the Upstate Eight Valley. Tori Marinelli had 2 saves for South Elgin.

St. Edward 3, Montini 0: Megan Kearney, Katie Ayello and Corey Lepoudre scored goals for the Green Wave (9-4, 3-2) in the Suburban Christian. Paige Gannon had 3 saves in goal for St. Edward.

Rockford Christian Life 2, Westminster Christian 1: The Warriors (8-3-1, 0-2) fell in PKs in the Northeast Athletic Conference. McKaila Hays scored Westminster’s goal in regulation. Christina Cusumano had 3 saves in goal for the Warriors.

Harvest Christian 5, Cornerstone Christian 0: Brittany Salazar scored a hat trick and Callie Arosen added 2 goals to lead the Lions (3-6-1). Tori Nelson made 2 saves in goal for Harvest.

Streamwood 4, Addison Trail 3: Kim Jimenez had a hat trick to lead the Sabres (7-9-1) to a nonconference win. Gabby Juarez added the other goal for Streamwood and Bri Roppo had 3 saves in goal.
