Softball/Fox Valley roundup

Cary-Grove pounded out 24 hits en route to a 22-10 Fox Valley Conference crossover softball win over Hampshire Monday.

Sarah Kendeigh (4-for-5, 2 HRs, 4 RBI), Sara Markelonis (4-for-5, 2 HRs, 4 RBI), Rebecca Lowe (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI), Tori White (4-for-5, 3B, 3 RBI), Taylor Dunne (2B, 2 RBI), Lisa Semro (4-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) and Sarah Leudo (3-for-4, 3B) all swung big bats for the Trojans (9-1).

Lindsay Efflandt didn’t allow a hit in 5 innings of work, striking out 6 and walking 1 in running her record to 9-1.

For Hampshire (6-7), Bekah Hurst had a grand slam home run and Jordan Hook hit a 2-run shot. Jen Hurst was the losing pitcher.

CL Central 4, Dundee-Crown 3: Five errors did in the Chargers (4-6) in this FVC crossover loss. Melany Love (2-for-4), Lauren Mercado (2-for-4, RBI) and Jessica Lewandowski (3-for-4, RBI) led the D-C offense. Amanda Eissler was the losing pitcher.

CL South 8, Woodstock 2: Sam Golf was 3-for-4 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI to lead the Gators (8-1) to an FVC crossover win. Sam McLean (2-for-4), Taylor Doppke (2B) and Liz Adams (3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) also contributed for Crystal Lake South. Hailee Massie struck out 14, walked 3 and allowed 4 hits in running her record to 3-0 for the season.

Huntley 12, Grayslake Central 2: Ashley Laxner was 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and 7 RBI as Huntley (2-8) rolled to an FVC crossover win. Randi Peterson (2-for-4, 2B) and Angela Tribuzio (2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI) also pitched in for the Red Raiders. Freshman Haley Spannraft allowed just 4 hits in picking up the win for Huntley.

Burlington Central 15, Streamwood 5: Bekah Harnish had 2 doubles and Emily Bell and Rebecca Roscher added one each to lead the Rockets (10-5) to a nonconference win. Rocher also picked up the win in the circle, her first of the season. She struck out 7 and walked 1. Andrea Barajas was 2-for-3 with a triple and losing pitcher Kelle Conquest had a double and an RBI for the Sabres (3-7).

Jacobs 7, Johnsburg 1: Tori Berg allowed 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks as Jacobs (6-4) won this FVC crossover. Alyssa Lach (2-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI), Maggie Hansen (2-for-3, 2B) and Courtney Copugno (2-for-4, 2 RBI) led the Golden Eagles’ offense.
