Ledinsky pitches Jacobs past Waubonsie

Nick Ledinsky allowed just 2 hits Friday as Jacobs’ baseball team defeated Waubonsie Valley 2-0 in Aurora.

The Golden Eagles (2-4) scored once in the fifth and once in the seventh. A single from Tim Mahoney in the fifth started a two-out rally. Mahoney scored the game’s first run on an error. Zach Camacho added a double in the seventh for Jacobs.

Ledinsky struck out 4 and walked 2 in 5 innings. Camacho came on and pitched the final 2 innings for the save.

“(Ledinsky) pitched well,” said Jacobs coach Jamie Murray. “He worked fast and attacked the strike zone. His curve ball was great. He threw hard and dominated today.”

Hampshire sweeps: Luke Wians threw a 1-hitter in Game 1 and Brandon Wescher a 2-hitter in Game 2 as Hampshire swept Belvidere, winning 4-0 and 7-0. In Game 1, Wians struck out 5 and didn’t walk a batter. Michael Laramie was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for the Whip-Purs, Jacob Kuhn had a double and Wians drove in a run. In the nightcap, Michael Dumoulin drove in 3 runs for Hampshire (4-2-1), Sean O’Shea had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Wescher had 2 hits including a double, and an RBI. He struck out 5 and walked 2 in gaining the win. “Wians was lights out,” said Hampshire coach John Sarna. “He kept their hitters off balance. Against Wescher, they hit line drives but right at our guys and the defense played spectacular.”

CL South 3, Harlem 1: Jordan Van Dyck (3-0) tossed a 2-hitter to lead the Gators past NIC-10 power Harlem. Van Dyck struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter. Jake Bigos was 2-for-4, while Max Meitzler and Tommy Gaede were each 2-for-3 for South (5-4).

College baseball

Judson 7, Trinity International 1: Matt McHenry hit 2 home runs and Craig Lipp went 8 innings for his fourth win of the season as Judson (24-6, 7-1) rolled to a CCAC win. Lipp struck out 10, while Rallo and Brian Brauer each had 2 RBI.
