St. Edward 9, Lisle 0: Freshman Jake Lefrenz (1-0) earned the victory in his varsity debut, allowing just 5 hits and striking out 4, as he led the Green Wave (1-3) over Lisle. Jacob Koehring, Michael Castro, and Antonio Domel paced the Wave’s offense with 2 hits a piece.

Burlington Central 7, Sycamore 3: Tanner Scott (2B, RBI) and Clem Acitelli (2 RBI) paced the Rockets (2-0) with 2 hits apiece in their victory over Sycamore. Riley Jensen earned the win as he allowed 5 hits while striking out 5 in 6 innings of work.

Romeoville 3, Streamwood 1: Edgar Saldivar led the Sabres (2-1) with 2 hits as they fell at home to Romeoville. Zach Harris (0-1) suffered the loss as he tossed a complete game, striking out 6 and allowing 4 hits.

Fremd 9, South Elgin 1: The Storm (0-1) fell in their home opener as they only managed 2 hits on the day. David Palmer (0-1) suffered the loss going 223 innings while allowing 8 hits, 3 walks, and 8 earned runs.

Crystal Lake South 11, Palatine 1 (6 innings): The Gators (3-2) pounded out 15 hits en route to a convincing 11-1 victory. Will Ahsmann and Dom Winiecki each recorded 2 hits and 3 RBI while Jordan Van Dyck went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Zack Geib (2-0) threw a complete game as he scattered 6 hits and struck out 1 while not allowing a walk.

Schaumburg 10, Jacobs 7: The Golden Eagles (0-1) fell in their season opener to the Saxons in this nonconference game.

“We didn’t play good defense,“ first-year coach Jaime Murray said. “We jumped to a 4-0 lead, but they scored 5 in their half of the first with a couple of errors. We want to have less combined walks, errors, and hit batsman than the other team, but we didn’t do that today.”

Kenny Finn was 2-for-4 with a home run, Connor Conzelman added a double, and Ryan Ulmer was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Greg Mixon took the loss for the Golden Eagles.

Bartlett 11, Hoffman Estates 4: Robert Sadowski turned in a strong performance on the mound with 10 strikeouts and just 2 hits to give the Hawks (1-1) their first victory of the season. Mike Roberson recorded 2 hits to go along with 3 RBI while Robert Smith and Ben Grear had 3 hits a piece.
