Marian Central continues homecoming festivities

Submitted by Marian Central Catholic High School

Marian Central Catholic High School, 1001 McHenry Ave. in Woodstock, continues a week of homecoming festivities. “Spirit Week” is filled with activities for current students, their parents, and alumni. The homecoming theme this year is titled “City Nights/Neon Lights.”

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, with “Disaster Day,” dress creatively in what could be mismatched day, crazy hair day, or solids and stripes day.

On Thursday, Sept. 20,“Toddlers/Elders Day” is the theme for this day; freshmen and sophomores dress like they are little kids again, while juniors and seniors dress as if they were elderly people.

The “Powder Puff” football game between the junior and senior girls begins at 6:30 p.m. at the football field. Admission is free with a canned food item; otherwise there is a $2 charge per person. All donations will go to the McHenry County Food Pantry. The junior and senior girls will be playing one another, and parents are encouraged to come out and enjoy the fun.

Friday, Sept. 21, will be “Hurricane Pride Day.” Students will display as much Hurricane spirit as possible with athletes in their jerseys and uniforms and other students wearing the Marian Spirit shirt, solid red or blue shirts/Marian uniform shirts, nice jeans, socks, and tennis shoes.

The day will begin with an all-school Mass at 8:55 a.m. followed by the introduction of the 2012 Distinguished Alumni recipients, and then at 3:30 p.m. it’s off to the Woodstock Square for the homecoming parade. Marian’s homecoming football games against Immaculate Conception will be at 5 p.m. (sophomore game) and 7 p.m. (varsity game). The homecoming king and queen will be crowned between the games.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, the Marian homecoming dance will be from 7:30-10:30 p.m. with the theme, “City Nights/Neon Lights.” Doors lock at 8:30 p.m., so please arrive on time.
