Craft Beer Dinner Jan. 31 at Arrowhead Restaurant and Bar
No need to bring your pretzel necklace to the table. Tuesday, Jan. 31, beer lovers can sample fine local brews with a delicious dinner at Arrowhead Restaurant and Bar, 26w151 Butterfield Road, Wheaton.
Chef Alan Pirhofer has created a delicious four-course dinner matched with the perfect brew from Finch's Beer Company, noted as the hottest new craft brewer in Chicago. Even with four courses of beer, you won't see any pizza or hot dogs on this menu.
How about glass of Witness Belgian Pale served alongside a green-tea smoked tuna tartar, with chili aioli, pickled radish compote and a garlic tortilla crisp on the side, please? Roasted duck confit and crispy pomegranate glazed pork belly hint at the tasty and unusual menu offerings which will be featured alongside craft beers such as Slackjaw Dunkle and Witness Belgian Pale.
Kristin Denecke, Marketing Coordinator for Finch's is a Wheaton local. She's looking forward to Arrowhead adding Finch's to the menu. “We're really spreading our wings, distributing to more and more places. We'll be in Wisconsin and Indiana before the end of the month.”
One of the things that sets Finch's apart is packaging. Several of their beers are available in “tall boy” cans, each holding over 16 ounces. “Cans are a great choice for us. They're economical, ecological and because they block more light then glass, they really protect the beer's flavor.” Arrowhead serves two of the tall boy beers, including Finch's popular Cut-Throat IPA which will also be featured on the Craft Beer Dinner menu.
Denecke is looking forward to tasting the dinner menu. “I usually have my beer with cheese and crackers.” Who's the best date to take to a Craft Beer Dinner? Denecke says the choice is easy, “I'll take my dad. He's Arrowhead's Golf Champion this year.”
Advanced reservations for the Craft Beer Dinner are required by January 26. Reserve at www.arrowheadgolfclub.org/tickets, the Wheaton Park District Community Center or at the Arrowhead Restaurant and Bar hostess desk.
Can't join us for the beer dinner?
You can still sample a world of unusual craft beers with Arrowhead's new craft beer flights offered daily. Similar to wine flight tastings, Arrowhead's beer flights will sample four different craft beers. Choices will range from local craft brewers to pricey international Belgian Ales. Flights are perfect for trying new and unusual styles as well as sampling from coast to coast the best of American craft beers.
Flights will come in two sizes, smaller six-ounce glasses for individual tasting and an unusual, “bottle flight” option for table sharing.
