Kelly Kaczynski exhibit at COD gallery Jan. 19-Feb. 25
An exhibition of works by Kelly Kaczynski will be on display Thursday, Jan. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Gahlberg Gallery, located in the lobby of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
The exhibit features installation pieces melding video and sculptural elements. An opening reception with the artist will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the gallery.
“Kaczynski uses green screen and projects landscapes and creates sculpture on top of it,” said Barb Wiesen, gallery director and curator. “Her unique approach allows the viewer to see the creative process, while appreciating the final piece.”
“Study for Convergence Performance (ice)” is the second work in a series that seeks to conflate the artist's studio as a performative site of production. Kaczynski's work uses the devices of the theatrical stage to operate as “non-space” and uses imagery from landscapes that shift in time, such as bodies of water, including glacier fields.
The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and Saturdays, 6 to
8 p.m. Saturdays and during all Mainstage performances. The gallery also is open by appointment.
