Glenbard seeks feedback on superintendent search

Glenbard High School District 87 officials are seeking feedback on what characteristics residents would like to see in a new superintendent.

A survey has been posted on the district’s website for community members to provide their input on “strengths, challenges, goals and personal attributes that will help determine the candidate who will be the best fit.”

The school board has been looking for a new leader since Superintendent Michael Meissen announced in August that he will step down at the end of the school year.

Board members will review the responses to the online survey “as they develop the criteria they will use to select the new superintendent,” according to an announcement on the district’s website.

School Exec Connect, a search firm hired by the board, also has been conducting focus group interviews with board members, district administrators, teachers, parents and superintendents of the Glenbard feeder districts. The focus group and online survey results are expected to be discussed during Glenbard’s Jan. 23 board meeting.

The search firm is expected to present a slate of the top six superintendent candidates to the board on Feb. 13 and board interviews with the candidates are scheduled for Feb. 15 and 18.

A new superintendent likely will be announced March 19.

The online survey is available until Jan. 15.
