New Lake County Family YMCA Program Gets Kids Into Fitness

A comprehensive new Lake County Family YMCA program for the New Year incorporates the energy, fun and happiness of music and dance into a fitness activity for boys and girls ages 4 to 12.

ZumbAtomic® is a dance-fitness workout set to the rhythms of music such as hip-hop, salsa and reggae. The emphasis is on kid-friendly songs and moves including basic dance steps and choreography along with games and healthy choices. It's fun and easy to do with no prior dance or fitness experience required.

The classes – on Thursday afternoons at Northern Lake YMCA in Waukegan and Friday afternoons at Central Lake YMCA in Vernon Hills – are led by certified ZumbAtomic® instructors. There are separate sessions for kids ages 4 to 7 and those 8 to 12.

Registration fees for the eight-week sessions beginning Jan. 12 and 13 are $25 for members of the Y and $50 for community members.

All Lake County Family YMCA programs are designed to encourage the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

For more information about ZumbAtomic®, or to register, call (847) 367-6797 or visit the Welcome Center at either the Northern Lake Y, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan, or the Central Lake Y, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.
