McHenry youth orchestras concert to help stock pantry

Submitted by MCYO

The McHenry County Youth Orchestras will present its seventh annual holiday concert to benefit the Crystal Lake Interfaith Food Pantry. This concert will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at Prairie Ridge High School, 6000 Dvorak Drive in Crystal Lake. Monetary offerings will be accepted at the door for the food pantry to purchase perishable items for the over 750 families they serve.

There is no cost to attend this concert, however they hope to raise significant funds for the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. Cash or checks will be accepted. Tax receipts will be given to all who give cash donations of $10 or more. All checks should be made out to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry (you will receive a tax letter directly from them).

The Intermezzo, conducted by Andrew Malovance, and Symphony orchestras, conducted by music director Eugene Power, will be performing holiday pieces for your listening enjoyment and to add to your holiday cheer. Local professional vocalists, and MCMC board members, Peter Carroll (board president) and Kurt Kuehnert (trustee) will be performing with the Symphony Orchestra. Carroll will sing “The Christmas Song” and Kuehnert will sing “Ev’ry Valley Shall Be Exalted” from Handel’s “Messiah.” The concert will end with a medley of familiar holiday tunes played by the combined Intermezzo and Symphony orchestras, at which time the music director will ask the audience to sing along as the orchestras provide the music.
