Five South Elgin players cracked double digits in the scoring column and seven players notched at least 8 points as the host Storm ran past Elgin for a 92-43 crossover victory in Upstate Eight Conference action.
South Elgin led 20-10 after a quarter and blitzed the Maroons for 29 points in the second, when Savanah Uveges scored 8 of her 10 points and Lania Robinson scored 7 of her 11 points.
Senior guard Becca Smith finished with a team-best 22 points, Alexa Matison had 12, Amanda Behles added 11 points, Kennede Miller had 9 and Nell Wentling scored 8 for South Elgin (6-2).
Senior center Briana Hamilton finished with a game-high 26 points for Elgin (0-7).
Burlington Central 66, Harvard 47: Jess Laird scored 27 points and Alison Colby hit a trio of 3-pointers en route to a 21-point night as the visiting Rockets pulled away from the Hornets in the Big Northern East opener.
Central led 13-6 after a quarter but gained breathing room with a 26-point second quarter. “We started slow but we showed great things tonight, especially when we used our press,” Central coach Jenna Real said.
Erica Haynes added 6 points for Burlington Central (3-3, 1-0).
Westminster Christian 54, Mooseheart 32: McKaila Hays led the way with 13 points while Kinsley Donahue and Claire Speweik each posted 8 points for the Warriors (5-3, 1-1) in a Northeast Athletic Conference win in Elgin.
Huntley 47, Crystal Lake Central 27: Junior Haley Ream scored 11 points to go with 9 points, 6 assists and 3 steals, Sam Andrews finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Abbey Shaw contributed 11 points in a Fox Valley Conference crossover victory for the host Red Raiders (4-2).
Dundee-Crown 34, Johnsburg 32: Senior Carlin Faulkner scored a game-best 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to pace the Chargers to their second straight victory. Diamond Williams added 10 points for Dundee-Crown (2-4) in Fox Valley Conference crossover action in Carpentersville.
Grayslake North 57, Jacobs 41: Amy Becker scored 16 points and Lauren Grady added 6 points, but it wasn’t enough to fend off Grayslake North in a Fox Valley Conference crossover in Algonquin. Jennifer Barnec added 5 points for Jacobs (0-7).
Crystal Lake South 34, Hampshire 24: Senior Stephanie Melone scored 12 points, sophomore Sara Mickow had 6 and sophomore Rachel Rasmussen added 5 points for the Gators (2-5) in this Fox Valley Conference crossover in Crystal Lake. Senior Michelle Dumoulin scored 9 points to pace Hampshire (1-4).
