Conant tops BG in Mid-Suburban League opener

Conant won both freestyle relays to earn a 111-75 victory over visiting Buffalo Grove as the Mid-Suburban League boys swimming season got under way Friday.

Key Conant individual wins came from Martin Pozniak in the 200- and 400-meter freestyles, Jonathon Burke in the 50 free (25.51) and Alan Wojciechowski in the 100 free (56.01).

Buffalo Grove’s Matt Schulstad won the 100 fly (1:01.66) and 100 back (1:07.25), and Ian Rodriguez won the 200 IM (2:16.79) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.25).

Conant’s John Maevski won diving with an excellent early season score of 235.30.

Hoffman Estates d. Rolling Meadows: Nick Jessee won the 100-yard free (57.37) and the 200 IM (2:24.43) and the Hawks got had winners in Sang W. Han in the 50 free (24.87), Luke Iehl in the 200 free (2:28.53), Jack Minogue in the 100 back (1:15.42) and Salman Akthar in the 500 free (5:12.96) to edge the visiting Mustangs 98-80.

Rolling Meadows won two of three relays and had individual winners in Patrick Waterloo (100 fly) and Jake Barson in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.40).

Prospect d. Schaumburg: The visiting Knights swept the relays and got wins from Andrew Younger (200, 400 freestyles) to earn a 98-87 victory.

Dan Harzman won the 50 and 100 frees for Schaumburg.
