ECC’s Rau earns honor

Elgin Community College sophomore Corey Rau has been named the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

Rau, a 6-foot-6 former all-area standout from Burlington Central, scored 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting and had 11 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in the Spartans’ win over the Judson University JV team.

Sennette honored: Judson University’s Karen Sennette has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball player of the week. Sennette averaged 18.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.3 steals per game last week. Judson (2-5) opens CCAC play this week against Purdue-Calumet and Holy Cross.

Judson golf coach resigns: Chris Watson has stepped down after two years as Judson University’s men’s and women’s golf coach. He started the programs at the school in 2009. One golfer Watson recruited to Judson, Huntley graduate Kaitlyn Anderberg, earned NAIA all-regional honors last season.
