Harvest Christian notches first win

Sydney Doby scored a game-high 28 points as Harvest Christian Academy's girls basketball team won its first game of the season and its first as an IHSA program, downing Mooseheart 40-28 Thursday night in the Elgin Academy Thanksgiving tournament.

The Lions (1-1) opened up a 22-9 halftime lead and never looked back.

"The girls played really well tonight," said Harvest coach Kelly Friestad. "They played with more confidence. Sydney had a great game and Kylee Knox ran the point really well."

Girls basketball

Hinckley-Big Rock 57, Westminster Christian 45: Whitney Vanden Bos had 20 points and Mckaila Hays added 17 to lead the Warriors (1-2) in this loss at the Somonuak tournament.

Women's basketball

ECC 72, COD 48: Cassie Dumoulin scored 20 points and Alex Dumoulin added 18 to lead the Spartans (5-1) to a nonconference win. Dijon Smith had 13 points for ECC and Megan Fasanella added 11.
