COD gets $583,410 grant for Career and Technical Education
The Illinois Community College Board has awarded College of DuPage $583,410 to support Career and Technical Education programs through the FY2012 Perkins Postsecondary Career and Technical Education Program.
The emphasis of this prominent funding stream is to ensure that quality CTE programs provide opportunities for high school and college students to build academic career and technical skills, with partnerships among secondary education, postsecondary education and industry to promote student success.
This grant will fund equipment acquisition, facilities enhancements and a variety of activities, including the establishment of a new outdoor lab space in Horticulture to integrate the Green and Landscape Design curriculums. In addition, a workshop focusing on assessment in CTE programs will be conducted, and faculty development programs will be provided in Diagnostic Medical Imaging-Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Medical Imaging-Sonography, Early Childhood Education and Care, Fire Science Technology, Graphic Design, Health Information Technology, Motion Picture Television, Photography, and Speech Language Pathology Assistant.
