Inaugural Laps With the Chaps an 'Unqualified Success'

The inaugural Laps With the Chaps 5K Run/Walk at College of DuPage brought the community on campus for an afternoon that included games, food and prizes.

More than 275 people registered for the Oct. 22 event.

The afternoon race began in the COD Stadium and wound its way around the beautifully landscaped campus. Participants stayed afterward to enjoy family games, food vendors and an awards ceremony.

Nearly $8,000 will go to the COD Foundation specifically for student scholarships.

“Our first Laps With the Chaps was an unqualified success,” said Cynthia Johnson, Community Development specialist at COD and co-chair of the event with Ken Gray, professor of Psychology. “The weather was gorgeous and the participants were enthusiastic. We expect this to become a COD tradition that will grow in stature.”
