Y offers free health screenings starting Nov. 7
Rosalind Franklin University Health System's mobile health unit, Community Care Connection (formerly the CareCoach), has scheduled stops at both Lake County Family YMCA facilities in November and December. Blood pressure, blood sugar/diabetes and cholesterol screenings plus BMI (body mass index) and waist measurements will be available to persons of all ages free of charge. In addition, those with questions about healthy eating can get answers from the registered nurse onboard. Foot and osteoporosis screenings are sometimes also offered.
The Community Care Connection will visit Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave. in Waukegan, on the first Monday of November and December (Nov. 7 and Dec. 5) from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
It will be at Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills, on the second Monday of November and December (Nov. 14 and Dec. 12), also from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Note: The Community Care Connection takes its last patient 15 minutes before the close of each site, if space is still available.
