John Sevigny presents “Immigration and Violence in Latin America” Oct. 4

Social documentary photographer and writer John Sevigny will present “Immigration and Violence in Latin America” at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at College of DuPage.

Sponsored by COD's Latin American Studies Committee, the free event will be held in the Health and Science Center, Room 1234.

Sevigny will discuss issues affecting Mexico and Latin America, including human trafficking, immigration trends in relation to the current U.S. economy, and gang warfare and violence in Mexico and its southern neighbors.

As a photographer, Sevigny has shown his work in Mexico and the U.S., including his exhibit “El Muerto Pare el Santo” at College of DuPage in 2009. He previously worked as a photographer and writer for the Associated Press and EFE News, the official news agency of the Spanish government.
