Stevenson edges Hersey

Girls volleyball

In a battle between two Top 20-ranked Daily Herald girls volleyball teams, Stevenson defeated Hersey 25-18, 22-25, 25-22 in Lincolnshire.

Seniors Kristen Pedersen (14 kills) and Kelsey Haas (11 kills) led the attack for Hersey (7-3) while junior Abby Fesl handed out 29 assists in the nonconference match.

Taylor Schill (14 digs) and Allie Mueller (10 digs) led the back row defense for Hersey.

Highland Park def. Maine West: Highland Park stopped the Warriors 25-18, 25-13 in the CSL North opener.

Maine West (1-8, 0-1) was led on attack by Katie Fitzgerald (9 kills) while setter Alyssa Bojarski handed out 14 assists.

Girls golf

St. Viator 185, Schaumburg 220: St. Viator’s Amy Stringfellow’s 45 was the best score posted in the nonconference dual meet at the Schaumburg Golf Course.

Fremd 164, St. Charles North 180: Angie Kim fired a 37 on the par 36 course at Palatine Hills to earn medalist honros in the nonconference dual meet.

Buffalo Grove 166, Hersey 172, Elk Grove 206: State contender Grace Kil of Buffalo Grove shot a one-under par 35 to lead the field in the Mid-Suburban League tri-meet at Rob Roy Golf Club in Prospect Heights.West Aurora 183, Conant 187: Conant#146;s Jackie Halden earned medalist honors in the dual meet at Fox Run Golf course in Elk Grove.
