COD Chamber Singers join in International Beethoven Project

The College of DuPage Chamber Singers will participate in Chicago's five-day Beethoven Music Festival, Wednesday to Sunday, Sept. 14 to 18, at the Chicago Urban Arts Society galleries, 2229 S. Halsted St.

This inaugural event includes more than 70 Chicago-area and guest musicians, performing more than 80 pieces of music. College Choral Director Lee Kesselman is among several composers premiering works for solo piano based on Beethoven's “Ode to Joy.”

“We have a balanced, prepared, mature group and our students not only provide a service for event organizers, but they also get the benefit of the performance experience,” Kesselman said.

The College's Chamber Singers will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16. The program features works that relate to Beethoven's ideas and themes. Kesselman, meanwhile, will premiere a short piece, as part of the closing concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.

For more information on the Chamber Singers, call Kesselman at (630) 942-2552, or visit: http://internationalbeethovenproject.com/.
