COD Offers New Online Version of Intro to Creative Writing this Fall
College of DuPage is offering a new online version of English 2250: Intro to Creative Writing for the first time this fall.
During this 16-week, 3 credit-hour class, participants discover and develop their writing talent in several genres. Student create original fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and drama; experiment with various forms and styles; criticize and revise their own work; and read and examine the works of well-known writers for insight and inspiration.
This course is taught by English Professor Tom Montgomery-Fate, who is the author of five books. Fate's most recent non-fiction work, “Cabin Fever: A Suburban Father's Search for the Wild” (Beacon-Press, June 2011), was identified as a “must-read” book for Father's Day in USA Today. Fate's collection of introspective essays on living life more deliberately has received attention from a wide variety of media, including a recent interview on WTTW's “Chicago Tonight” and an article and excerpt in the Beacon Broadside.
