Lake Co. YMCA hosts ice cream social Aug. 6

Are you looking for something free and fun to do for the whole family? If so, then the Central Lake YMCA ice cream social and open house Aug. 6 is the place to be.

“We're opening our facility to encourage everyone to check out our programs and services that foster youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” Executive Director Robin Petty said.

The ice cream social and open house will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.

The event will feature:

• Health screenings including blood pressure and body mass index checks

• Myovision scan of the nerves in the head and neck by HPM Wellness

• Fitness Class demonstrations including Tai Chi, Zumba tone and Piloxing

• Family swim in the Aquatic Center complete with lap lanes, children's play structure and water slide

• Adult spa area including whirlpool, therapy pool, dry-heat sauna & steam room

• Open Fitness Center and outdoor playground

• Family games & crafts

• Chair massages courtesy of HPM Wellness

• Fire engine show & tell (1:30-2:30 p.m.) courtesy of the Countryside Fire Department

The Lake County Family YMCA is offering special summer promotions that include zero joiner fees, college student and summer camp discounts. The Lake County Family YMCA offers financial assistance to those with demonstrated need.
