Donut Run aids McHenry County kids

Submitted by McHenry County Police Charities

McHenry County Police Charities is now accepting registration for the fifth annual Donut Run, which will be Saturday, June 18, at Woodstock Harley-Davidson, 2050 S. Eastwood Drive, Woodstock.

Registration is $20 for a single rider, $25 for a double rider. Preregistration guarantees a Donut Run T-shirt or a Donut Run pin. The first motorcycle will leave Woodstock Harley-Davidson at 10:30 a.m.

Proceeds help less fortunate kids in McHenry County by pairing them up with a police officer for a day of shopping as part of the Christmas Shopping Program. In 2010, more than 200 children participated.

The event is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Public activities include lunch, K-9 demonstrations, motorcycle demo, squad show and a kids' doughnut eating contest.

Raffle tickets are for sale for $5 each or five tickets for $20. First-place prize is an iPad 2 64GB with Wi-Fi; second prize is a weekend getaway to Tomahawk, Wis., with a two-night stay, three-day Harley rental and $100 cash; and third prize is a 46-inch Vizio LCD television. The raffle winners will be drawn at 2 p.m. June 18.
