Carmel’s softball team powered up Friday.
Kathleen Felicelli, Sally Snarski and Amy Abel hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first inning, and after a single by Danielle Pullano, Skyler Zak belted a 2-run shot, as the Corsairs went on to beat Highland Park 16-6.
Snarski smacked her second homer of the game in the fourth inning. Felicelli finished 4-for-5, while Snarski was 3-for-4. Jessica Heinz added to the hit parade by going 3-for-4, and Julia Hart had a double.
Lakes 6, Grant 3: The Eagles won their seventh in a row, scoring all of their runs in the sixth.They got singles in the inning from Jamie Dykstra, Shannon Cooley, Meghan Milewski and Lindsey Meverden, while Jasmine Rivera had a double.Lakes improved to 14-8-2 overall and 7-3 in the North Suburban Prairie Division.Vernon Hills 20, North Chicago 0: The Cougars outhit the Warhawks 19-0, with Megan Meline tossing 3 innings for the win.Neha Manchada and Meline each drove in 4 runs, while Mady Roberts had 2 doubles and 3 RBI.
Vernon Hills closed out NSC Prairie play with a 9-3 record.
Warren 21, Lake Forest 1: Sara Shanders went 4-for-5 with a double and 3 runs scored, Sam Belletini was 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored, a triple and an RBI, and Lexi Leneau was 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI. Jana Wagner went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI.Wagner threw 5 scoreless innings for the win.Warren improved to 18-10 and 7-3 in the North Suburban Lake Division with its third straight win.Lake Zurich 5, Stevenson 1: Maria Schroeder#146;s double accounted for the Bears#146; only extra-base hit.
