Lake Zurich’s softball team had a chance to inch a little closer to the North Suburban Lake Division championship Wednesday.
Warren had other ideas, however.
Abby Anderson hit a fifth-inning grand slam, Sarah Shanders went 3-for-3, and the Blue Devils avenged Tuesday’s loss at Lake Zurich with a 7-3 win.
The loss was the first for Lake Zurich (13-6, 6-1) in the NSC Lake.
Warren (13-9, 3-3) spotted the Bears a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but scored 3 runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. The next inning, Anderson (2-for-3) cleared the bases with her home run.
Jessica Demski went the distance in the circle to earn the win, scattering 5 hits, including Megan Mattera’s second homer in as many games and a double to Alli McGinnis.
Mattera suffered the loss.
Sam Belletini added a single and 2 RBI for Warren.
Antioch 9, Grant 0: Katie Keefe went 3-for-4, Amber Mysliwiec was 3-for-3, and Olivia Duehr and Kayleen Ressler each had 2 hits, as the Sequoits beat the Bulldogs for the second day in a row in North Suburban Prairie action.
Keefe, Duehr, Mysliwiec and Ressler all had doubles, as Antioch improved to 16-6 overall and 7-1 in the division.
Duehr pitched a complete-game 3-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks. Amber Smith and Hannah Graham had doubles for Grant.
Benet 6, Carmel 5: The Corsairs wiped out a 4-0 deficit after one inning but lost when the Redwings scored in the bottom of the seventh.
Kelley Dodge went 4-for-4, and Sally Snarski homered and knocked in 4 runs for Carmel. The Corsairs received 2 hits apiece from Snarski, Amy Abel and Kathleen Felicelli.
Grayslake North 12, Woodstock 0: Kristina Gandy pitched a 2-hitter with 7 strikeouts, as the Knights stayed hot.
Grayslake North (11-5, 6-2 Fox Valley) got 2-for-4 efforts from Kelsey Borders (triple), Raquel Ness and Christina Freese. Jordyn Bowen was 2-for-5.
Vernon Hills 23, Round Lake 0: The Cougars blanked the Panthers in North Suburban Prairie play for the second day in a row.
