Megan Mattera belted her third home run of the season and knocked in 4 runs, as Lake Zurich’s softball team defeated visiting Grant 6-2 Friday.
Mattera and Carlee Parsons both went 2-for-3 for Lake Zurich (10-4) in the North Suburban Conference crossover. The Bears got triples from Kasey Roe and Maria Schroeder.
Mattera pitched 5 shutout innings for the win, striking out four and not walking a batter.
Libertyville 5, Lakes 3: Lauren Vogg doubled and drove in a pair, Nicole Kruckman tripled, scored a run and collected an RBI, and Maggie Meyer contributed a single and an RBI for the Wildcats.
Andie Grant earned the win.
Stevenson 20, North Chicago 0: Katherine Trotter threw a five-inning no-hitter for the Patriots (8-4) in the North Suburban crossover.
Prairie Ridge 8, Grayslake Central 0: Cassidy Obis had a double for the Rams, who spotted the Wolves a 5-0 lead after two innings.
St. Viator 7, Carmel 2: Sally Snarski homered for the Corsairs in the East Suburban Catholic Conference game.
Carmel fell to 8-8 and 1-4.
Vernon Hills 2, Zion-Benton 0: Megan Meline struck out 13 for the Cougars in their North Suburban crossover. She also stole 2 bases.
Warren 22, Round Lake 0: Sarah Shanders went 3-for-3 and scored 3 runs for the Blue Devils in the North Suburban crossover.
Warren (10-6) got 2 hits apiece from Taylor Boyke, Sam Belletini and Allie Schultz.
Jana Wagner, Marcee Olvera and Jessica Demski combined on a five-inning no-hitter.
