Palatine takes MSL West lead
Palatine (10-2, 3-0) took sole possession of first place in the Mid-Suburban West with an 11-1 victory over Hoffman Estates on Thursday.
Senior left-hander and Millikin recruit Dani Boisvert threw a 4-hitter with 2 strikeouts. Top hitters for the host Pirates were Alyx Ballenger (2-for-4), Joanne Jablonski (2-for-4, triple) and Lauren Logan (double). Emily Allan (2-3) threw for Hoffman (3-9, 1-2).
Elk Grove 4, Hersey 0: MSL East leader Elk Grove (11-1, 4-0) received a 2-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks from junior Dani Goranson (11-1), who also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Freshman shortstop Becca Maher had an RBI single in the first and junior Megan Keegan belted a solo homer in the sixth for host Elk Grove, which stranded 12 runners.
Val Burke and Kim Ferraro had the hits for Hersey (2-9, 0-4).
Barrington 5, Schaumburg 2: Senior Kiley Dolezal (10-2) threw four innings for the win while Emma Woods went the final three innings, facing only eight batters thanks to pair of double plays.
Fillies catcher Savonnah Osmanski was 2-for-3 with a 3-run homer in the fourth inning.
Colleen Shandley (2-for-4) and Liz Owen (2-for-4) were other multiple hitters for the Fillies who also received a double from Danielle Di Iorio.
Leading the offense for visiting Schaumburg (5-4, 1-2) were Rebecca Thompson (double), Alyssa Lancaster (2-for-3, double), Alexis Carrevetta (2-for-3) and Brianne Lingl (2-for-4).
Rolling Meadows 3, Prospect 2: Rolling Meadows senior catcher Kelly Keyzer belted a two-out 2-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game and Natalie Cannizzo singled home Emily Hattory (double) for the decisive run in the sixth.
Sophomore Sara Brunlieb (6-3) struck out four as the winning pitcher for host Meadows (7-5, 2-2).
Senior Nikki Surico’s triple scored Amy Graham to give Prospect (4-7, 1-3) a 1-0 lead and Surico came home on Hanna Lythberg’s double for the second run in the third inning.
Buffalo Grove 13, Wheeling 0 (5 innings): Senior Maria Dax (7-4) fired a no-hitter with 4 strikeouts for Buffalo Grove (7-5, 2-2) over host Wheeling (2-6, 0-4).
Bison senior shortstop KC Dunne went 4-for-4 with a triple, 2 doubles and teammate Danni Shapiro was 3-for-4.
Maine West 7, Highland Park 4: Sophomores Holly Wengerski (3-for-3), Ariel Valles (2-for-3) and Renee Pond (3-for-4, 3 RBI, double) were the top hitters for visiting Maine West (5-6, 2-1) in the Central Suburban North contest.
Valles (4-5) threw five innings for the win, striking out four.
