Quick start powers Palatine

Host Palatine hit Hoffman Estates with a 9-1 scoring spurt in the first quarter on the way to a 17-6 victory that clinched at least a share of the Mid-Suburban West title in boys water polo on Tuesday.

John Guiliano and Kamil Mulawa scored 5 goals apiece for Palatine (16-2, 8-0), and Dylan Weissmann, Christian Kalfas and Justin Behrens had 2 each.

Buffalo Grove 14, Hersey 7: Ian Rodriguez had a team-high 5 goals to help the visiting Bison (11-10, 6-2) power past the Huskies (3-12, 2-6).

Stephen Petro had 5 goals for Hersey.

Fremd 12, Barrington 7: Phil Schroeder had a game-best 5 goals and Andre Degla had 3 to help the host Vikings (7-12,4-3) pick up an MSL West triumph.

Schaumburg 13, Conant 10: Mike Gergen provided 5 goals, 4 assists and 4 steals as host Schaumburg (17-7, 6-2) netted an MSL West victory.

Marty Kwiatkowski had 3 goals, Randy Carr had 2 and goalie Mike George stopped 16 shots and produced 9 steals for the Saxons.

Top scorers for Conant (11-9, 4-4) were John Burke (4), Palmer Lynch (2) and Alan Wojciechowski (2).
